- Position: Receiving Specialist
- Location: Houston, TX
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
THE POSITION:
- Receives, sorts and distributes incoming materials.
- Loads or unloads materials from delivery vehicles when needed.
- Stocks inventory supplies in appropriate areas as necessary.
- Verifies accuracy of all received shipment by comparing information on packing slip with purchase order.
- Assists in inventory control by maintaining the Receiving Department inventory in a clean and orderly manner.
- Performs clerical duties, including receiving records management, filing and documentation of shortages.
- Assists in the receiving, inspecting, verifying, accepting or rejecting of all supplies and equipment delivered to PHS and verifies that all paperwork, documentation (such as packing slips, bills of lading, receiving reports, supply requisitions, etc.) are accurately completed and processed.
- Interfaces with purchasing to resolve all receiving discrepancies.
- Determines most economical and efficient shipping method based on time constraints and customers’ special needs.
- Inserts items into containers with appropriate packaging materials; posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
- Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
- Sorts, counts, packages, labels, verifies, unpacks and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
- Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications, inspects shipment for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and purchasing personnel.
- Assists clinicians with locating and preparing equipment and supply needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record (if assisting with deliveries).
- Basic math and computation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
